This is a groovy recipe that we use for potlucks, family gatherings, and the like. It is ever a hit! The only thing we do differently is go out out the buttermilk and used crushed pineapple instead of chunks. The cookies don't get soggy at all, in fact I like it all-time the next twenty-four hours.
07/01/2004
This salad is delicious everyone ever wants the recipe. Instead of using cookies nosotros add twix candy bars chopped into pocket-size quarter inch squares.
05/02/2003
I don't know what made me make this what a waste material of proficient ingredients. I will not make this again
xi/12/2001
This recipe is also a favorite in my family. It is also excellent with sliced bananas or fresh cut strawberries (I take as well used frozen strawberries).
06/sixteen/2004
This salad is so good! I took it to a church potluck several years ago, and now it seems I may never have to take anything else! I always get begged to bring this. I take doubled, tripled, and fifty-fifty quadrupled the recipe with no trouble. You tin can also try dissimilar fruits- strawberries, bananas, etc- but I accept found that canned oranges and pinapple chunks are the easiest way to get. Its a good thing there aren't very many ingredients and it'south easy to set up...you will observe yourself writing down the recipe over and over!
04/xv/2005
Went over very well at my work potluck. The theme was "salads." I doubled the recipe and information technology turned out perfect. Don't forget to add the cookies at the concluding moment. Plus information technology was easy to set the night earlier.
06/22/2005
I found this recipe last night and fabricated it for a gathering. Splendid. It was yummy, anybody loved it. It was easy to make. I used fat free buttermilk and light whipped topping. Many asked for the recipe, need I say more.
03/21/2002
Mmmm! This recipe brings back childhood memories! My mom used to brand this during the hot summmer months (she used only bananas in her version) - my siblings and I would become hog wild over it and beg for more. :)
12/09/2004
I sliced 2 bananas instead of the pineapple(personal taste merely don't like pineapple)be sure you put the cookies in right before serving.took information technology to a church luncheon anybody wanted the recipe
08/18/2003
I thought this was a pretty good recipe, I liked the buttermilk mixture a lot. The cookies become soggy Real fast though, they accept to go in merely right before serving. I didn't retrieve it was whatsoever skillful afterward one hour. I might make this again, especially if there are kids eating too. Perhaps serve in private bowls/glasses, and just sprinkle the crushed cookies on top without mixing in.
10/09/2004
I guess I autumn in the minority hither, but I really did not intendance for this recipe. All the ingredients separately are good, only together it just doesn't work for my palate or my family of 5 plus ii. The mixture tasted similar cake mix- maybe I would suggest just ONE box of pudding that MAY help the thick rich taste. (This would gustation better if it had a light and airy taste. -It doesn't) I gave it ii stars only considering I like the fruit and absurd whip.
04/06/2005
This was DELISH! At that place were five of usa at dinner and I had private portions, so I added the crushed cookies to individual servings. Otherwise, if you put all the cookies straight into ALL the salad, the cookies get mushy if you don't consume all the salad at one sitting.
02/fifteen/2002
Everybody loved this and anybody wanted the recipe. You could serve this without the cookies, just the cookies give it that extra goodness.
xi/xi/2003
This was a big hitting at my Collusion party last dark! I doubled the recipe exactly, but found that I could have used more fruit.
12/19/2005
Nifty Recipe.. even without the cookies. I made this for anybody at work for a late afternoon treat, and now everyone makes it!
01/01/2003
Made it to satisfy my marvel; wouldn't make it again.
03/25/2005
I make this for potlucks and everyone loves it.
04/03/2001
I fabricated this for my 4-year-quondam's preschool birthday party -- a HUGE striking with kids and teachers alike. Definitely a keeper, and could be made with any of your favorite cookies -- I happen to honey "Fudge Stripes"!
11/10/2000
I love this recipe. I am surprised information technology is not more commonly known because it is and then yummy. You lot will have to search far and wide to detect an easier to prepare salad. Wait till you lot are ready to serve this before you add together the cookies if you lot like them crunchy.
12/11/2002
I've made this salad for a couple of years now and it is always a success. The recipe I accept is called Buttermilk Salad. It doesn't sound as appealing as a Cookie Salad, but either manner it's peachy....simple to prepare....pretty presentation.
09/28/2000
My family has been serving this salad at Easter Dinner for years! Information technology's a calorie-free salad. All the kids go crazy over this salad!!!
05/05/2001
Very good. People may be reluctant to try just one time they exercise you won't have leftovers.
04/30/2002
This recipe is so yummy!!! I fabricated it for a church social and several people couldn't wait to eat it! It'due south one of my new favorite recipes. Thank y'all!
eleven/07/2002
This is really good. The just trouble is that I gave the recipe to my family members and now they make information technology ALL THE TIME, then I take gotten ill of information technology. But it is quick and like shooting fish in a barrel and a existent crowd pleaser. Non recommended for daily consumption.
06/10/2005
I have made this great salad a number of times for funeral dinners and other gatherings, and information technology is always well liked! I don't change a affair.
x/28/2002
I love this recipe I made it for a cooking class online and my whole family loved information technology! I added alittle more whip cream than it asked for only it still tasted great.
11/14/2002
kids loved this, but i constitute it a little likewise sweet for my liking...but i have to acknowledge, it didn't last long!
09/12/2001
Simple to brand & delicious to eat!
01/16/2011
I cut this recipe in half to make a pocket-sized basin of this dessert for but 4 people. I used sugar free cheesecake pudding, one-half a tub of "free" whipped topping, ane-8 ounce can crushed pineapple and one-11 ounce tin mandarin oranges and two 100 calorie packs of the mini fudge stripe cookies. I took a sense of taste of information technology and you totally can't tell that I used lighter ingredients. Information technology'southward going to exist actually hard to continue out of this until after dinner. This is darn tasty. I loved that this came together with things I had in my deep freeze/pantry. I think this would be skillful with crushed chocolate covered grahams, too.
07/xi/2011
Wowser! I made this for my church's coffee house and they seved it in parfait cups, huge hit! Not bad summer treat!
12/23/2011
I love this salad! It is e'er a huge hitting at potlucks. I like to use crushed pineapple instead of chunks and the whole packet of cookies. I likewise find that it is much meliorate the next solar day, afterward the cookies accept gotten a little soggy!
01/06/2010
I had this salad for the get-go time final month at a family dinner. I was praising my aunt for making this, I thought information technology was so delicious that it was the only thing i went dorsum to get seconds of. I didn't get a take a chance to go the recipe from her but I just happened to stumble across it on AR! This recipe is perfect I beloved it!! If you make information technology for a party be prepared for people to ask for the recipe!! So skilful!
04/07/2011
Joshua Gaytan - I Actually Liked Information technology. I Liked The Vanilla Pudding That Was In It And The Standard mandarin. Putting Cookies In It And Information technology Looked Even Better. :D
10/23/2010
Fabulous salad to bring for multifariousness to whatever luncheon! We loved the sweet fruity mixture!
04/07/2011
I really enjoyed this salad. I idea the oranges and the vanilla pudding went together very nicely. The cookies too gave it more flavor and a squeamish crunchy texture
x/21/2011
I wasn't going to brand this. I kept going dorsum & along. Information technology seemed so odd to me, but I was and so intrigued..it was awesome! I used a piddling less puddingmix...maybe two/3 a pakg (for a halved recipe) I volition definately exist making this again. Update: I made this once again merely did non have buttermilk. I used the vinegar/milk fox to compensate...it was Non the same. I would not recommend doing this...and then much better with real buttermilk.
01/26/2011
This dessert was a hit at our family game dark final night. My stepdad is a diabetic and I wanted to be certain to brand a dessert that he could eat as well. I used sugar gratis ingredients instead and information technology was nonetheless fantastic. The gustation is rich, flossy with a splash of citrus flavour. The best part is that it tin be whipped up in less than 10 minutes. I think I let mine chill in the fridge for a little less than an hour while we were eating dinner. I rated this as 5 Stars considering its fast, tasty and tin be changed up in and then many different ways. This will defintely be something I make again in the near future! Thanks for sharing this fantastic recipe! :)
11/25/2008
SSSOOOOOOOOOO GGOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!
07/11/2010
Absolutely YUMMY! I actually used cheesecake instant pudding. And instead of pineapple, I added some bananas(slightly green). This was a huge hit! Its nearly a dessert! Add cookies about an hr earlier serving. Besides, draining the fruit REALLY well, is important. You don't desire leftovers, otherwise the cookies are soggy. So make sure it gets eaten! It is always a hit!
05/09/2009
I honey this dish im similar a niggling kid at Christmas when I make this and my husband goes to boondocks on it We utilize crushed pineapple though and surprisingly it makes a large difference then try that if you similar the recipe.
xi/xv/2010
First-class!!! Almost dessert. Fabricated this for a potluck, but it fabricated so much, that nosotros kept some at dwelling that I put in water ice cream dishes topped with cookies for my kids. This is a peachy salad to make for potlucks. I did everything in advance and then mixed in the cookies about 2 hours before the upshot. Turned out perfectly!
xi/28/2010
I made this with oranges and bananas simply no cookies. Information technology was delicous!!!
04/07/2011
it turned out really well and tasted really good, but we didn't put the pineapples in instead nosotros only did the standard mandarin oranges
08/31/2008
This makes such an easy and delicious salad! I like to add more fruit to make it more similar a fruit salad. It'south good even without the cookies. You lot can also experiment with different types of pudding. I've made this many times and it's ever a large hit.
04/07/2011
i think is came out very skillful. i similar the taste of the cookies and the mandarin oranges ! (:
03/xiv/2012
The 1st day the buttermilk flavor was also strong. Information technology seemed to mellow by the 2nd twenty-four hours. Information technology was good if you like whip cream/fruit type salads. I think it might exist better which simply regular milk- or maybe half buttermilk and half skim. Of all the fruit salad recipes in the world this was just a smidge higher up boilerplate. I like the addition of the cookies just I do think crushed Twix would be ameliorate. I doubled the pineapple and used 1 15 oz can oranges. I will double the oranges next fourth dimension also as at that place was plenty of the flossy stuff for extra fruit.
06/22/2013
My dear SIL introduced this recipe decades ago, and it has become a family tradition. My kids (peculiarly the males) fight over the leftovers every time I make information technology. The virtually important tip is to utilise Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies. Only Keebler cookies, as they can hold up to the moisture in this salad and won't get soggy. Information technology's really best when yous make it at to the lowest degree two hours ahead. Just, as my boys can attest, even the leftovers are delish!
05/15/2007
I got this recipe from my sis over twenty years ago and information technology's a favorite at many of our family go togethers.
01/07/2011
We make this in our family with oreo cookies and no fruit. It is every child's favorite!
06/ten/2010
Delicious. Next time I will half the recipe....this makes a lot of salad.
11/06/2011
Love this recipe! I am just a college student and this is and then easy for me to brand and take to gatherings. It does non accept long and is at present something I make just considering information technology sounds skillful!
04/29/2008
Wow!! Incredible!! I cannot tell you how often I get asked to bring or requite this recipe out. I usually add extra fudge cookies to this.
07/24/2010
I've been making this salad for years and it's always a striking! You can use oreos instead of the fudge stripe cookies and call it "dirt salad" too - kiddos dear it!
01/15/2012
I but made this for the first time to serve at family dinner this evening. I took a spoonful to taste it earlier putting in the refrigerator to set, and earlier calculation the cookies (right before serving). OMG - its' succulent! I don't think it even needs the cookies - although the whole point of my trying this was to use up some of the Christmas cookies that I take around. This one's a new 'keeper'! Cheers!
02/17/2007
pretty skilful, i added tiny marshmallows to it considering to me a fruit salad like this simply isnt consummate with out tiny marshmallows in it :)
11/22/2006
A huge hit at all the family functions! My family prefers no fruit in information technology-just the sugary goodness! I use more crushed cookies and reserve several to garnish around the bowl. But FANTASTIC!!
09/20/2010
Very good recipe. Simple to make. I tried it with both Snickers and Twix separately and it tasted great. Side by side time I make it, I'll attempt another cookie - maybe a simple chocolate chip. My 5-year-onetime son thought this was the best affair ever.
02/19/2012
We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this! I halved the recipe, but kept the amount of cookies the same. This totally exceeded our expectations. I will exist making this once again! Thanks for sharing. :)
08/05/2006
This recipe was just alright. I wasn't blown away by information technology, and neither was my boyfriend. I probably won't make it again, and it wouldn't be something I'd proudly bring to a family unit funtion or anything. The cookies were a unique touch though so I gave information technology 4 stars.
eleven/10/2008
This is the BEST dessert!! It'due south then like shooting fish in a barrel to make and absolutely succulent!! The ingrediants sounds funny together, only are great. I've tried to brand a low-fat version, but it doesn't taste most as good. Brand sure to go INSTANT pudding or information technology won't turn out right either. Brand sure to buy the Keebler fudge stripe cookies, they're more than crumbly and taste meliorate.
07/06/2008
I found this recipe looking for something to use up some buttermilk. Information technology is actually expert. To exist honest, I was skeptical about the demand for the fudge stripe cookies until I tasted it with and without the cookies. Definitely better with the cookie cruncha and that little fleck of chocolate. I simply had i large box of pudding, 5.1 ounces, so slightly less than the vi.viii ounces two small boxes would make. I kept the milk the aforementioned and it seemed to be fine. Also, I used crushed pineapple because that is what I had but I think the pineapple chunks would provide a better contrast in textures. I would brand this recipe again. Thanks for sharing it.
04/08/2009
And so skilful, and so easy! My family LOVES this stuff!
01/xiv/2012
Hmmm.... Looks similar my three star review is the exception hither. I wasn't a fan of this at all. The concept appealed to me (and I've had a sweet tooth lately), so I whipped up a small (one-half) batch to appease my curiousity. While non terrible, I wouldn't brand this once again. If offered on a buffet, I might give this another become, but in that location would have to be quite a few less favorite dishes offered for me to practise so. The star ingredient is what actually turned me off. Whether crunchy or softened, cookie bits in Whatsoever salad are out of place, IMHO. I guess I'd simply rather take my cookies with milk - as they should be eaten. :) Cheers anyways, JT!
06/22/2009
I had a similar salad years agone using fudge striped cookies and was hoping this was the recipe, just I was disappointed. I thought there was as well much pudding and that all the fruit and cookies concluded up existence drenched in pudding. The only changes I made were to employ fresh pineapple and sugar-costless instant pudding & fatty-free cool whip and skim milk instead of buttermilk. I besides simply put in i/four package of cookies. It tasted good, but nothing special. I was looking for more of a fruit salad with a slight blanket than this more soupy pudding salad. I'm thinking that 1 box of pudding would accept accomplished more of the result I was looking for.
11/22/2006
I normally don't add the pineapple and sub in Oreo cookies for the fudge stripe when making this. Information technology'south always really skilful!
12/24/2012
I dearest cookie salad! It is a condolement food from my childhood. In my version, I employ regular milk, no pineapple, add marachino cherries and use cheesecake pudding instead of the vanilla...yum yum.
05/07/2012
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. My grandmother used to make this for us but never wrote down the recipe, and unfortunately, Alzheimer's has now locked away and then many of her wonderful recipes. I was so excited to brand this and be able to taste it again. Thanks!
03/26/2016
Delicious, easy and refreshing. Neat for family get togethers or pot luck picnics. this is my go to dish to share.
10/08/2018
This recipe made a large salad, which was bang-up for our assemble. They loved it!
11/23/2007
Thanks for posting this recipe! I am in a new relationship and going to his brothers for Thanksgiving dinner. They had requested we bring the "cooking salad" they ever bring. I had never made it so asked his daughter what the ingredients were and then I could pick them up from the store. Then I was really confused as to how to make the salad. It's then nice to come to Allrecipes and know you tin can find anything you are looking for. I also added fruit cocktail every bit this is how his family makes it. Then added mini marshmellows for my ain special twist.
09/14/2008
Love, dearest, Dearest this recipe! It'due south definitely a classic in our expanse. I added canned blueberries this time and it was even amend...almost tasted like blueberrie muffin mix. YUM! I did make it the night before and so added the cookies but before serving, but even the day after that, information technology was all the same good.
03/29/2018
I fabricated this exactly like the recipe except I used regular milk not buttermilk. So delicious. My family and friends honey it. Everyone asks for the recipe!!!
12/28/2009
I'k giving this 4 stars considering I felt that it was missing something I'grand non really sure what. Anybody loved this but said it could use something. I'grand thinking of mayhap using chocolate whipped topping adjacent time.
08/24/2016
I have had this at potlucks only never made it myself. I decided to make information technology for my kids as a treat and they loved information technology! I expected this to be very sweet but due to the buttermilk it counterbalanced it out perfectly.
12/18/2015
My family loves this recipe. The only changes we make is using crushed pineapple, and for fruit we use fresh strawberries and blueberries. Delicious!
06/11/2010
I dearest this salad. It is definitely a dessert-type salad (much like a jello-salad would be). It's a great fashion to eat some fruit though! My friend has fabricated this for me before, so she had the not bad thought to bring the makin'southward for it camping with us. Information technology was a squeamish treat for dessert one night! Easy to brand and yummy to eat!
09/xix/2012
Bully recipe! The only affair I did differently was using pistachio pudding instead of vanilla.
12/28/2014
I of my families favorites!! Love bringing information technology to family unit get-togethers. Never whatever leftovers.
11/24/2016
I make this for all family get togethers . Everyone loves it. I take fabricated it with coconut and strawberry pudding. I added sliced strawberries to the strawberry. Yum....
09/07/2009
This went over well at a bbq last night. Good option for kids and adults.
01/25/2007
This recipe was brought to piece of work today for a pot luck and anybody raved almost information technology. The cook used one box of vanilla pudding, 2%milk and "Ruffles" cookies. It was great!
xi/30/2016
This is an every holiday demand. My favorite is bitter into an orange, my goodness, Succulent!!! Nosotros don't add the pineapple and the family voted against information technology. I definitely recommend giving this a try. I've nevertheless to come across someone who does non similar it. It's truly a oversupply pleaser.
06/17/2017
Everyone begs me to brand this at every party!!
02/23/2006
Someone I know made this for a function and she did not requite me the recipe but this i is the verbal one and it is dandy, I honey it!
07/xix/2009
My grandma always fabricated cookie salad for usa growing up, so this was like a trip down memory lane. I brought it to a cookout and it was by far the favorite particular. People went crazy for it. I added about 16 oz. of whip cream instead of 12 oz. to make it just a bit lighter. Be sure to wait to arctic the salad and then add the cookies until right earlier you serve information technology so they don't go mushy. Definitely use the entire bag of cookies and the buttermilk if you want this to gustatory modality amazing. It's more of a dessert than a salad.
07/04/2018
Two important tips: 1. do Non crush cookies...instead, break upwards by hand, in to four or 5 pieces per cookie ii. Add red grapes, helps add some color plus provides fruit with a firmer texture to help balance the predominately soft textures in the salad
11/26/2013
This recipe is always a hit! I adopt using crushed pineapple instead of chunks.
xi/02/2019
I leave out the pineapple and add extra standard mandarin oranges. Such a great, simple, easy recipe!
06/16/2014
I also have a variation: I use fresh strawberries, bananas, and red grapes in addition to the canned fruit. Sometimes I employ the juice from the cans in identify of milk in the pudding.
05/28/2008
Fantastic. I accidentally was short 4oz of absurd whip and 6oz of standard mandarin oranges, but worked out slap-up anyway.
04/20/2019
My family unit loves cookie salad, though we use both vanilla pudding and kokosnoot cream pudding, made instead with one-half and half instead of buttermilk. It is also great if you scoop into cupcake liners and freeze! It lasts for at least 3 months unless you lot live at my business firm...at my business firm it'southward gone in a 24-hour interval!
12/24/2006
This recipe is easy, bang-up, and delicious. I have substituted regular whole milk for the buttermilk and cheesecake instant pudding for the vanilla and those work swell too. This is 1 of my niece's favorite dishes!!!!
03/26/2006
As another reveiwer propose I made this with no butter milk and used crushed pineapple.I took this to a potluck at piece of work and wow did I go praised :). Even the people that didnt endeavor it asked for the recipe because of the rave they heard near it. thanx for the recipe
07/31/2013
Dear this!
12/02/2015
I perfected it with i elementary change, use Two whole packages of 11.5oz cookies. Trounce one parcel as suggested and put the others in the food processor to plough to a coarse pulverization. Information technology binds the topping together and makes it much more dense, like it should be imo.
06/24/2008
I'll admit I was a fiddling skeptical about this recipe at first, only since it got such great reviews we thought we would requite information technology a endeavour. We followed the recipe exactly, except we used the full packet of cookies. Took information technology to a BBQ, and the bowl was practically licked clean. We will definitely be making this again
xi/22/2017
I absolutely love this recipe! The buttermilk sounds atrocious simply I promise it all works out! I always have an empty bowl when I take information technology to potlucks even if I double or triple the recipe. One time they gustatory modality it, they come back for more!
05/31/2018
This was delicious and such a nice, light summertime dessert. The pudding holds up and didn't get runny despite the fruits. Made homemade buttermilk (two scant cups milk + ii tablespoons of white vinegar, permit sit for 5 minutes). Merely used viii oz of Cool Whip (couldn't bring myself to buy a second tub, as I wasn't certain what to practise with the other half of it), and it worked out fine. Can't wait to attempt this with bananas equally others recommended! Also might endeavor pineapple tidbits next fourth dimension every bit the chunks were quite large. I was shocked that the hubby who doesn't dearest pineapples loved information technology.
05/24/2012
Beloved this recipe! It is so cheap and easy to make and it is always a hitting wherever I take information technology! Sometimes I add miniature marshmallows or sliced bananas. Delicious!
